The simple yet powerful focus exercise to help overcome feeling overwhelmed and anxious

Use this calming and nurturing focus exercise to help take the edge off feeling overwhelmed and anxious, or fearful and stressed.

It’s really easy to do and only takes a few moments once you get the hang of it.

The outcome can significantly increase the harmony of your mental state.

The key to transformation is consistency

It’s best to approach an exercise like this as you would showering, brushing your teeth, washing your hair, or any regular daily activity which helps maintain your state of health and wellbeing.

It’s ideal to make it a part of your daily rhythm.

When you invest time and energy into making it a regular staple of daily focus, it truly has the potential to transform how you feel.

Consistency is key.

The inner state created through doing this exercise can help invite an unwinding of layers from within you, which are just waiting for healing.

It can promote greater harmony within you:

  • By feeling more compassion and acceptance for yourself, and what you may be experiencing at this time
  • By feeling more at peace within yourself
  • By feeling safe and supported, despite being in a turbulent, unsettling and uncertain world
  • From feeling more connected to the higher part of yourself – your Higher Self, Soul, Spirit
  • From being immersed in a place of Love
  • By inviting the walls around your heart that contribute to you experiencing disconnection or disharmony in some way, to be safely and gently softened, one layer at a time
  • By creating a space for allowing your energies to become more integrated (Your heart space is at the center of all balanced energy integration and positive transformation)
  • By feeling a nourishing presence from a benevolent Higher Source

This exercise aims to help you make a deep connection with your heart.

You will draw upon the power of peace already inside you, to help draw you more closely into your body’s optimal state for peace, balance and healing.

Focus exercise to help overcome feeling overwhelmed and anxious

Inviting a deep connection with your heart

The Lead In

  1. Breathe deeply from your abdomen.
  2. As you breathe out, use your imagination to expel all your thoughts and feelings relating to fear, anxiety and overwhelm – let it all go.
  3. Do this for a few moments.

[Note: you can skip this initial part if you are pressed for time or feel you don’t need it. It helps to lead you into the exercise for deeper results, but it’s okay to just get straight into the core part of the exercise.]

Inviting a deep connection with your heart

The Exercise

  1. Focus on your heart space  in the centre of your chest.
  2. As you breathe in and out, bring your focus more deeply into your heart space, and intend to make a connection with your heart.
  3. Use your imagination to visualise a warm glowing radiant light inside your heart.
  4. Then imagine a sense of softness emanating from the light.
  5. Feel the softness inviting your heart to soften its barriers.
  6. Feel your heart softening, and being filled with a radiant warmth.
  7. Using visualisation and feeling, immerse yourself as fully as possible within the warmth and softness inside your heart.

Then for the next few moments:

  1. Maintain your focus on your heart space, while immersing yourself within the feelings of warmth and softness inside your heart.
  2. Observe how far throughout your body, you see or feel, the warmth and softness extending to.

Be mindful

of the following while you are doing the exercise

  1. Recognise the source of warmth and softness, as the Higher Love from your Soul, or Higher Self.
  2. Be open to feeling the depth of your bond or connection with your Soul or Higher Self, gently revealing itself to you.
  3. Acknowledge the presence of a benevolent Higher Power surrounding you, supporting you, protecting you – while you are immersing yourself in this exercise.

Recognise this Higher Power as God, Infinite Intelligence, Divine Spirit, The Universe, or in whichever way you relate to it.

How long you keep going is really up to you.

Stay in the space for as long as you need to.

Notice the change in how you feel afterwards.

Each time you go through this process, it will be different.

Sometimes deeper, sometimes profound, other times a quick fix.

Invest time and energy in yourself – choose daily rituals that help reduce feeling overwhelmed and anxious

The key for transformation with this exercise is to make it a ritual of habit.

Do it each day, and observe what kind of changes happen for you.

If you are disconnected from your heart (you may not even realise it), or if you have put up barriers around your heart, doing this type of exercise would be very beneficial and transformative for you.
